I think i stumbled on this at some point in the forums but can't seem to find it again, but people were talking about a two way binding that went from a text input to a checkbox.
So the text input would hold a value like true/false, and the checkbox would obviously be checked/unchecked. It would be good to have a more advanced version of the two way binding that is less symmetrical, and perhaps even utilizing two different templates.
