Did you find a solution?
I have the same problem. I have Japanese, Chinese, Korean ... in my app.
Steal converts it to \ufffd\u884c\ufffd?\ufffd\ (I forgot what it is called like)
and fails with some characters.
Is it a Java-Problem?
