quietest AFC East team so far this offseason, but that all changed on
Sunday night. As the Boston Herald reports Monday, the Patriots have
locked up All Pro free agent safety Devin McCourty. The two sides agreed
to a five year deal worth $47.5 million. McCourty, who spent his entire
career with the Patriots, is an important piece in the defensive
backfield and was a critical re signing if New England hopes to make
another run at the Super Bowl. Much of that will depend on the futures
of both Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, but having McCourty back on
board is huge. In making his decision to remain with the Cheap authentic jerseys
team that drafted him, McCourty pointed to winning and being happy has
the main factors. "I'm not going to lie, throughout the
process, really up until a couple hours ago, I thought I was going to be
somewhere else," McCourty told the Boston Herald. "It's
crazy how good business is. It really goes that fast where you might be
playing. But it all worked out the way I wanted it to. It's a good
feeling." McCourty actually took a hometown discount to remain
with the Patriots. The Philadelphia Eagles was reported to be one of the
teams who offered more money. The New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars
and Tennessee Titans were also in on prying McCourty away from New
England, but at the end of the day (or night) the talented safety
decided to stay put. "To me, it was just hitting certain numbers I
wanted. I felt like myself, my agents and the Patriots worked together.
