There are so many ways you can do this. The example I posted would create a link, that if clicked, would effectively do can.route.attr('foo', data.attr('foo')). Maybe that's overkill, and it makes more sense to to pass a route field and the value to set field to. Anyway, the point is that you can make a helper function to create a url that would set the desired route property.
